| The Chapter gives all members every opportunity to
support the University of Nebraska through service and representation in our Nation's
Capital. In the near future, we will be reviewing avenues to accomplish that. If you have
any ideas and interests in this area, please let us know. Together, we can do great
things!

ALUMNI ADMISSIONS PROGRAM
Through the Postcards for Pride
and Drop Off Programs, the National Capital
Cornhuskers encourage their members to stay actively involved
in personalizing the student recruitment process.
NCC COLLECTIONS
At every chapter function, a collection is
held. The food drive has assisted Child of Mine Center
in the Anacostia area of Washington DC. In 2001, Food
and Friends received a delivery. In the past, a
special collection was held to aid the North Carolina flood
victims and eyeglass collections benefitted the Lions Club
Eyeglass Recycle Center in Falls Church, Virginia. In 2002, collections supported United States Air Force personnel deployed to various sites committed to the war against terrorism. We continue to embrace opportunities to serve.
NEBRASKA SOCIETY
Emphasizing the chapter statement,
we welcome the opportunity to serve all Nebraskans, residents,
and visitors in the Washington D.C. area. The National
Capital Cornhuskers supports the state society representing
Nebraska in our nation's capital through co-hosting socials,
and providing asssitance to Society functions. We encourage our membership to attend society events. Visit the Society website.
CAPITAL ALUMNI NETWORK
With over 200 Washington DC area Alumni Chapters, this organization is the one of the most unique Alumni organizations of it's kind. Together these chapters share in sports, cultural, social, and academic events in the Nation's Capital. Best practices are discussed, seminars and meetings are held, and ideas shared to strengthen chapters in a most unique area of the country. The National Capital Cornhuskers insure representation and the best interests of DC area Alumni and Nebraskans.
THE NCC DIRECTORS' AWARD
Established in 1998, this award recognizes
the chapter member who exemplifies commitment to the University
of Nebraska through the definition of the Mission Statement
of the National Capital Cornhuskers. The candidate may be
recommended by any active member of the NCC Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors reviews and confirms all candidates.
Upon confirmation, the announcement is made at the earliest
official chapter function.
RUN FOR RESEARCH 5K
In 1997, Run organizers recognized the National
Capital Cornhuskers as the first Alumni Chapter ever to
volunteer as a group to the Run. Volunteers were given "Run
Staff" T-shirts and took part in a post-run volunteer
party at Capital City Brewing Company afterwards. In 1998,
Team Nebraska entered the race! In 1999 and 2000, our chapter
joined in with the volunteer staff again. 2001 marked the final year for the Run. We are proud to have had the opportunity to represent Nebraska at such
a great cause. We will continue to look for great events like this where we can assist and help make a difference.
